Congratulations Clancy is our Maryland GRK9 of the month!

We're so proud to be a part of Clancy's success story. Helping Clancy and his family progress to their training goals have been extremely rewarding. Clancy ran that house, he needed a leader and it's great to see his family stepping up to really solidify boundaries and provide clear communication.

1. How old was Clancy when you got him? 7/27/2019 on his 8 week birthday

2. Where did you get him from? McMinds Family Airedales in Millerton, PA (4 hours from us)

3 Why did you pick him? There were 3 females and 2 males. We knew we wanted a male and Clancy basically ignored us when we got there. The 1 male peed and was very excited to greet us but Clancy went about his business. We loved his independence and knew he was the one immediately!

4. Why did you want to begin training? While we love his independence, he can be a bit stubborn and always needs a job. Ricky and I have never trained a puppy before and needed

help communicating with him to ensure he was always thriving.

5. What were some of your training goals? To begin with, Clancy needed to learn boundaries. He thought he was the boss and we definitely let him think so because we didn't know what else to do. Boundaries were our first big obstacle and the "mark" command helped us tremendously with that.

6. What was the biggest obstacle to overcome during training? Overwriting some of the bad behaviors we accidentally instilled in him. 7. What are you guys working on now? We are still working on crate training. Once he gets in, he's fine but he's hard to get in. It has become a game where he acts a fool because that is what he's used to. We are trying to erase that image and create a new, positive one. 8. If you could give any of our client's advice about accomplishing your training goals, what would it be? 1) Kelsey is always right, 2) Use the crate the whole time, 3) Give yourself grace and have patience. It takes hard work, time, and dedication. Don't try to rush it but make sure you are keeping up with your homework! It only takes 5 minutes a day usually. 4) Do a mix of home lessons and board/train. It is helpful for the trainer to see how they are in their "element"
