Door manners during the holidays.

If your house is anything like mine during the holidays, your dog is consistently opening and closing. Kids running in and out, presents being dropped off and friends stopping by.

Well, that rotating door can also pose as a major Holiday buzz kill. & that’s because you’re chasing your dog down the street.

Having your dog understand door thresholds and impulse control can literally save Christmas.

There are tons of ways to help your dog respect the door way. Best advice is break it down for them. Teach them while asking something they already know. Such as a place command or sit. Open and close the door. Only after your dog understands the behaviour do you increase the distraction and remove the place command. Separately practice your recall. This behaviour will be your best friend
