Georgina GRK9 of the Season

We would like to congratulate you both and Misty on Grassroots K9 Georgina of the season. First off, they are getting featured because you both have shown great dedication to your training, made leaps, and are well on your way to meeting your training goals.

1. How old was Misty when you got her?

Misty was nine months old.

2. Where did you get her from?

She was adopted from Dog Tales Rescue in King City

3. Why did you pick her?

Misty was incredibly anxious at the rescue so we wanted to give her a home as soon as possible. She seemed like a perfect fit given that she was dog and human-friendly and these were qualities we were looking for.

4. Why did you want to begin training?

We began training because she was highly excitable and we wanted to focus her energy into more positive activities. Previously being a stray, she had a lot to learn about living in a home.

What were some of your training goals?

Some of our training goals addressed play biting, leash pulling, and dog reactivity.

5. What was the biggest obstacle to overcome during training?

Misty is a Malinois and they often communicate through mouthing so her play biting continues to be one of our top priorities. She has made great progress and is learning to bring us toys if she wants to play.

6. What are you guys working on now?

We continue to work on her dog reactivity and excitability indoors.

If you could give any of our client's advice about accomplishing your training goals, what would it be?

Consistency and patience are the keys to success. The only way Misty has overcome the obstacles she has is because of the rules we have established inside and outside of the home. Patience allows you to accept that dogs will have good days and bad days.
